getting climbers across other plants to the wall

I have a small sunny bed against the front house wall (west facing), and I've planted a clematis & Jasmine about 2 feet away from the wall. Can't go any closer because it's too dry and the foundations get in the way, so I've put a cistus in between climbers and wall.

I've run a few canes across the top of the cistus to carry the climbers up to the wall, thinking I would try to take them out when the plants reach the wall, but I am now doubting that it's going to work. Would it be better to run the climbers through or under the cistus? The cistus might feel it's too shaded with the climbers crossing it.

any thoughts welcome.
