Clay soil, but camellias thrive - will pieris be OK?

My soil is improved clay, but I've been successful with camellias in a west-facing sunny border. I think pieris aren't meant to like clay, but apparently thrive in the same conditions as camellias. I'd like to try pieris - any tips/suggestions to help me succeed?

Hi, I've had success with pieris in clay soil. The RHS has a great website -this helped me.

Pieris was great on my clay soil. We did dig in plenty of compost and composted bark when we planted up.

I have a heap of homemade compost ready to go : )
