Suggestions for creeper/climber to be grown in pot?

We have a fence that faces south west. We have unsuccessfully tried to train plants on it but they die and have to replaced each year. I am assuming the soil is rubbish or there is concrete under the fence.

We are looking for a plant that can be grown in a pot but that will spread up to 12 feet. Any ideas on what plants would work and if we should choose a specific type if pot?

I want something that flowers and it would be a bonus to have some winter coverage.

Clematis are happy in pots but you do have to keep them watered and fed, which might be a challenge. You are supposed to shade the roots but I've not found that an issue, it's the drying out that's a problem. Jasmine, honeysuckle, passion flower, kiwifruit, roses will all do if the pot is big enough and well cared for enough.

I have a lovely clematis growing in a box which is approx 40x50 cm. Grows to about 6 ft up a lattice and flowers from Spring.
You're best going round your garden centre and having a look at the labels to find one to suit.
Clematis Montana grows really well (and high!) but mine never flowers for some reason.

I would dig a bigger hole near the fence and improve the soil, add plenty of compost and remove any large stones etc, much easier than having to water a climber, most of which have deep roots and so are not very happy in pots.
If you plant in the ground, plant the climber at least 30cm away from the wall to give it a better chance.
This is easy to grow against a sunny wall, its more of a wall shrub so can be planted a distance from the wall which would work well in your situation
