I'm not very good with house plants at all, I have had it for a week. It is in the kitchen, on the windowsill where it is bright (when the weather is bright). If the sun was shining (which it isn't, it would be in the shade for half of the day and sunlight for half of the day.

I have watered it once when I brought it home and once since.

Can anybody offer any ideas please?

Hmm. Is it brown and crisp (ie dry and scorched/frostbitten) or brown and mushy (ie rotting)?

Could the kettle be steaming it?
