Aloe vera - my plant hates me...

Have an Aloe Vera plant that, most of the time, hates me. It has been on the verge of copping it for months, so have been moving it around the house to try to find a spot it likes. Had read not to water hardly at all during winter months but water in summer. Well, that is what I have been doing. For the past month things were looking up - it had even had two baby plants (aah) - but suddenly it's gone all floppy again and is looking a bit brown. Have given it more water - not lots, the soil already feels quite dry again. Should I give it more or is this a sign that I've given it too much. Any help much appreciated!

have you put it in the sun? I think you can put aloes outside for the summer months (if you want). I have only ever had them abroad (in Africa) but basically you need to water when they feel dry in the summer so it probably needs more water. I think I normally watered it till it was clear the water had soaked the soil (so until it was coming out the bottom) and then did the same again when the soil went dry (however long that took so maybe the next day if v hot or a day or so if not so thirsty).

I should put in a disclaimer here because I'm by no means a plant expert!

It's still looking rather miserable...
