Rolls of Bamboo screen. Do they weather well ?

any tips for attaching them to standard fence 6'x6' panels (fence panels are 1.5ft shorter in height than the bamboo screen) ? I guess I'm going to need to extend the height of the fence posts to stop the bamboo wafting about all over the place, but other than that what should I be doing ? What's the best fixing for it ?

Sorry, fence panels are not 6 feet tall. They are 6 feet wide and 4ft tall.

1.5 ft shorter than bamboo should be OK - affiz with wire or staples hammered in. I don;t think they wear that well, I think they start looking quite scruffy after a couple of years, but thats only one experince of mine.

Hmmm, maybe I should just replace the fence panels then ? I want to add height to a fence at the side of my house.

I used some but had a nightmare trying to attach it, the bamboo was quite brittle and kept breaking, in the end it broke beyond repair. If I was going to do it again I would try a more flexible screen, I think they do a heather one? that might be better - I did like the effect though.

Trellis? - would be more expensive to buy ande put up but will last as long as the fence.

The trouble with trellis is that it is see through, I want something solid. The fence is in a place where growing something on the trellis wouldn't be an option (up the side return on my house, no soil or space for pots).

Had a look at a few different types of screen today, the prices vary wildly but I do like the look.

Maybe you could use the bamboo and replace it when it gets a bit too scruffy for you.

Yes, maybe. The fencing is in a sheltered spot, so is unlikely to be exposed to extremes of weather.

I saw Willow screening today, very nice. A much better colour (imo) than bamboo.
