its a dry stone wall which is being pulled over by the plant/tree thing. Previous occupant obviously planted it or screening as it grows like a bugger. I keep pruning it so it doesnt complete/over crowd my fruit trees, but its spreading. It has dead thick roots all intertwined around and between the stones.

Im skint and dont want to have to pay for someone to rebuild wall at this point. Any ideas how to get rid of it??

Am also a bit worried it is now stopping the wall from toppling and it might collapse if I remove the monster?

If you can, 'ring' it by removing the bark all the way round the main stem/trunk. If you can't, get a drill and drill several holes in the stem and put salt in the holes.

Alternatively, chop it back as far as you can and use brushwood killer (the most powerful weedkiller).

Thank you so much. I will try all of that! Ill chop it back, drill holes in it, strip as much bark off as i can.

i will hold off with chemicals as it is very close to trees i love
also it borders 2 other neighbours gardens

Re-reading your OP, do the ringing the bark thing (or any of the other options to kill it) and then trim back what you can of the plant without disturbing the wall sounds sensible. Leave it a while after trying to kill it to see if it has worked and let it die back. You can deal with the dead bits in your own time.
