Strawberries - who is a fab grower and can help me?

I've got some strawberry plants in a huge pot and I have the most fantastic set of leaves on them but wizened miserly fruit. Can I cut some leaves off so the 'goodness' goes to the fruit instead or do I need to keep them for shade?

also I have triffid like runners all over the place, should I be cutting these off too?

Take the runners off - you can pot them up to make new plants for next year if you like. Don't take the leaves off, take the bad fruit off - it's probably too late to do anything for this year though if all the flowers are gone.

It sounds as if you haven't been watering them enough - they need stacks and stacks of water when the fruit starts to form.
