New raised beds - what to plant so late in the season?

Been wanting a veg patch for ages and have finally figured out a way to have one, by building raised beds in an area that we used to use for parking. So, they're just about finished and I'm dying to get started - but it's so late in the season. What can I plant now - either seed or plugs - so that I don't have to wait till next year!!

Lettuce? We plant it on a weekly basis from about february to november.
