I am not a gardener by any means, but have been trying to help grow the children's sunflowers they brought home from school.

All has been going well until today. The breeze has blown two over and the stems have been bent at right angles (not totally snapped).

I've straightened them up again next to their canes, but will they die now?Sad

i dont think they will if they just got bent .(for want of a better description!)
now they are straight and the stuff inside the stem can travel up and down it will be fine i think.
:)

If they haven't snapped completely through they should be OK - they might grow with a bit of a kink in their stems but they should still keep growing.

If you haven't already done so, tie them gently to their canes, and as they get taller make sure they are still well supported by their canes.

Phew thanks!Smile

I'm not a gardener as I said, but I have become strangely motherley about my (oh alright, 'their') sunflowers.
