I don't want to have to do anything to it apart from enjoy the bounty year after year. I already have rhubarb.

Any ideas?

Raspberries are great. They are expensive to buy and go wet quickly but once established you can get a healthy crop. Get a couple of canes of summer and autum fruiting variety. I was told any named Glen XXX whatever were heavy croppers. They need pruning once a year. Google when to do it properly. I just hack them to the floor in about november.

What's the soil like? My low maintenance favourites are strawberries, rosemary and lovage. Actually most of my plants are low maintenance because I'm very lazy Grin If you pick things that suit your soil and the positioning (is it sunny? Well-drained?) then that'll save you some work.

Thanks for the replies.

I might put some raspberries in the far end that doesn't get much sun.

Thanks for the suggestion but I've just looked up lovage, there are only two thinks that I really can't stand to eat/drink, one is tea, the other is celery so unfortunately lovage is a no go. Thanks for the idea though.

I don't know what type of soil I have, I am in Devon if that's a clue and the veg patch is right next to a river bank with sun half of the day.
