How much does fencing cost?

After a run in between my poor cats and the local mange ridden foxes, plus a long running battle with my neighbour's brambles, I've decided a heavy duty six foot fence is no longer a luxury but a necessity!

I got a quote from the company who did my neighbours' fence and it came in at 2.2k for 14 boards plus 25ft of trellis Shock. Does this sound right? I'm in SE London.

God, I hope not Shock. We'll be thinking about this soon.

We're paying £720 for 12m of feather edged fencing (being done later this month and can't wait!). We're based in Cardiff.

Thanks for the replies. Apparently the fence is beech and fades beautifully... But is it really worth so much? Shock

Depends if you want a fence, or an heirloom ! Get a couple more quotes from straightforward fencing companies - I'm no expert but beech is a hardwood and expensive, fencing panels are usually softwood and cheaper.

2010 we paid for a fencing company to cut down tall but spindly hedge, take away residue, build and erect 30 ft of 6 ft high fence, with a 6ft door/gate and padlock/bolts, and it cuts £550.

The fence was hand built- he makes his own, and it was sturdy and really well done.
