How fast does trachelospermum jasminoides grow - would love appreciate advice and opinions please?

In November of last year I planted a Trachelospermum Jasminoide plant from my local garden centre in my back garden against a south facing wall (the wall is only knee high and then there is a fence and trellis above it. It is currently 32inches high with lovely red leaves, but doesn't seem to have grown much yet (my husband says to be patient everything is going on under the soil!) I'm in Hampshire on the south coast with a small town garden laid to lawn with flower borders. The reason I plant it was to create privacy and screening against the next door neighbours (down to a fall out last year and lots of bad feeling caused by their building work for an ugly great big extension, no planning permission & cowboys doing everything evenings and weekends, however, I digress!) The trellis only takes the boundary to about 6ft which is why I'm anxious to cut them out privacy/screening, otherwise it just feels as though their 'in my face' IYKWIM and I don't want to see them at all!

Can anyone tell me how long it should take this twining climber to grow to about 6 feet and then I can train it along the fence/trellis for extra cover. Also does it drop leaves like other plants, don't want leaves dropping on neighbours side - or them moaning about it and cutting it back (sorry, I'm a gardening novice!).
I would be tempted to plant tall conifer trees like leylandii and add some barbed wire, but husband won't allow it, lol. Would appreciate your help and feedback

Lovely shrub, but I think it'll be a while before it gives you much privacy. Why not plant a couple of honeysuckles which will rapidly cover the trellis?

Lonicera japonica "Cream Cascade" and "Halls Prolific" are rapid growers, and semi-evergreen.

And maybe some sweetpeas as well?

I would put two plants in to cover the area more quickly. They ARE slower, but give cover all year round, are easily clipped back for shape and general controllablity. Being evergreen , it drops leaves all year round, but is always growing more. For speed grow honeysuckle as suggested, but it gets leggy and bare stemmed, whereas the jasminiodes retains leaves and flowers along its entire growth

Here in Melbourne, where it's warmer, it can be grown as a low hedge, about 2-3 feet. I'm giving it a go as a climber and ground cover.

Our took a couple of years to really get going - doing really well now.

A solanum crispum glasnevin (chilean potato plant) would grow very quickly (mine reached 8ft in a year!). Is semi evergreen so you'll get some all year around privacy but bear in mind is toxic if you have small children.

They are slow growing and 32" isn't huge. I have two used along trelis and one is slightly bigger than yours and I'm not expecting much of it for a couple of years - my other one was larger (probably twice the size...)when planted and again took a couple of years to establish, but now covers a 6 ft trellis, about 2 m width with dense foliage and another 1-1.5 m where it's starting to get going. I used a fast climber (passion flower in our case) whilst it was establising itself - they are evergreen but do need a it of controlling to ensure they don't swomp everything! I've pulled mine out now.

You could plant some annual climbers for privacy this year. A couple of them are lovely and grow like mad. Climbing nasturtium springs to mind.

Hi I recently bought this plant from my local garden centre and its circa 7 ft tall but only 7 or so long vines so no read width. I'm struggling to understand the best way to train these long vines so that eventually I get as much coverage as possible across the width of my garden wall (not just at the top). I'm a novice gardener so any tips would be greatly appreciated

Londongirl i planted mine just under 4 weeks ago and i think it has grown about a foot already

I have one and it is about 4foot tall and probably 6foot wide. Probably has taken 2-3 years. I am training it over a trellis and it is doing ok.

It flowered the first year but nothing last year or this year yet. Does anyone know what I can do to get it to flower please? It is in a fairly large rectangular container, if that makes a difference..

I have a couple of clematis growing there too, so I have a few flowers from them.
