Yes weed and fed does work but depending on which one you brought it may not get rid of your moss Shock
You need one with iron in it to kill moss as well as weeds it should say on the packet. You will need to rake out the dead moss ( very good for firming muscles you never knew you had Grin
If your grass is very mossy it is usually because the ground is compacted and has poor drainage or shaded by trees, fences ect. you could try allowing more air into the lawn (best done in the autumn) using either a machine you can hire which pokes prongs into the surface or use a garden fork
Good luck

i agree about weed and feed.I always use it around this time of year and then 2 weeks later rake out the dead moss, thatch ets. I have an electric rake for the job. Sad as it sounds people have commented on the greenness and lushness of my lawn.Smile

My "lawn" is very weedy (we only moved in at Christmas), in places it is 75% dandelions, and it has patches of really coarse overgrown grass too - will Weed and Feed be any use? Anyone know any tips to make it a gorgeous grassy green lawn instead of a disgraceful weedy muddy mess?

Think you might have to returf it, Greensleeves. Sounds like mine - I suspect if I weed and feed it it will kill off all that is green in my lawn :o

Depends how much you want to pay, Greensleeves. Don't know how big your garden is but returfing is the quickiest but more deer way.
Cheaper but harder would be to weed and feed and then reseed where the lawn is patchy. You would propably need to weed and feed twice in the first year. The coarse grass will become finer if you mow it once a week.
