onion planting - do I have to wait til weather better or...

This weather is doing my head in. I've only had an allotment for 2 years so still learning. I have been waiting for snow to go and was planning of planting my onion and shallor sets on Monday but forecast oop north is for heavy frost on wed thursd. Does it matter or should I wait?
