I would like to invest in a strimmer but want one that is quite light but strong enough to tackle some viscious brambles &nettles on the verge next to my garden.

Not keen on electric ones but as long as the chord was long could manage from the back door.

Any advice? Keep looking at various websites but get boggled!!

Not wanting much eh?

TIA

Strimming's a horrible job, particularly the cleaning up. Have you thought of spot-weeding the brambles (they will eventually die at root) and leaving the nettles for bees and butterflies?

For brambles you need a brush cutter, not a strimmer. This has a blade on it.
I would also recommend spot weeding the brambles, as they will keep coming back otherwise.
I'm also looking for a strimmer - off to the boot sale now in fact Grin
