What's the best thing to put on the lawn, it's used as a football pitch/tennis court and needs rejuvenating?

The best thing to do is to aerate the lawn particularly on the bare patches. You can do this by getting a garden fork and digging the spikes in and moving the fork back and forth to make the holes a bit wider, repeat this all over you lawn ( don't know how big your lawn is but this will certainly give you a work out). When you've done this you can get spread soil lightly over the lawn and brush it into the holes, or you can use well rotted garden compost. Then sow grass seed over the lawn and water it in. If the weather is dry water until the new grass seed has germinated. Hope this helps if you need any more advice I'm more than happy to help.

Honestly? Artificial turf is all the rage in my part of London. It looks great, needs no maintenance, gets over the hosepipe ban.........If it had been available when my boys were growing up and wrecking my garden I would have gone for it like a shot.

My neighbour has it and you can hardly tell the difference.
