I've got one design and I'm really happy with it but the chap is taking ages to comeback with a timing plan and price. I'm planning on spending a fair whack over a couple or three years so can't afford to do the wrong thing.wwyd

at least 4. Don't go for the cheapest or the one who can start on Monday. Take your time, research them thoroughly and don't pay up front!!

I would recommend you find someone who firstly has the credentials to prove they can do the work, ask to see some of their previous work, get references on their work, get everything in writing, dont pay in 2 lots, Get the work laid out in stages, so you pay stage payments for each stage, never pay half upfront. A good designer will lookafter you every step of the way. Where abouts are you, am in North Oxon. I recommend at least 3 quotes. If you want hard landscaping (paving) and soft landscasping (plants), then get quotes from specialists in their own fields. eg 3 quotes for hard landscaping a 3 quotes for gardeners / plant specialists. if you want more help , let me know.
