What to plant in a north facing but sunny garden?

I am reclaiming my garden - chooks are locked away in a new house, the lawn is going to be turfed and I can now work on my flower beds. But what should I plant? Am on the south coast with acidic soil.

I currently have an established shrubby area (lilacs, snowberries (utter nightmare), lavender & a couple of roses) and a palm tree. But what else? I'd like to go for pretty perennials, things that smell nice & attract wildlife.

Current must haves:
rhubarb
blueberries
more fushcias
maybe forsythia?
and loads of bulbs

Pretty perenials that can tolerate coastal areas are irises, lupins, erigeron, red hot pokers and geraniums.

If you've got lots of space, crambe cordifolia is lovely.

Ooo, brilliant, thank you.

We were looking for hardy geraniums at the garden centre yesterday and I love camelias - I've always wanted one.

Lupins and red hot pokers are a good idea too. I've made a list, thank you so much.

I love the RHS website - have never looked there before. Am off to look at crocus.com Smile

Sweet peas should do well too as long as you can cane them up.
