HELP! I am in a total panic about the KILL ALL weed killer I used.

I am a pretty experienced gardener but am having nightmares over this.

I am doing a lot of work on the back of the garden which was neglected- and over run with ivy. I sprayed the ivy with a kill-all killer- glyco-what's it- though very lightly as it was almost empty.
Now about 2 weeks later, the eleagnus which is about 12 feet high is showing signs of dying- leaves going brown, droopy, and the ivy is still going strong.

Please tell me that I have not killed the shrub by mistake. Does that weed killer work only on foliage 9 them is taken down to the roots) and is it a coincidence that the eleagnus is looking sick?

We have recently pruned it quite hard and i wonder if that had allowed some virus etc to get into it? I also wonder ( probably not) if my neighbours have poisoned it- we had to remove a tree against theri wall but were allowed to keep the shrub...insurance job) but I think they were not too happy with that!

Isn't glyphosate a contact weed killer? If so, if it touched your shrub, yes you may have killed it.

However, I thought it worked quicker than 2 weeks

Well they are all contact killers! It is not maybe what you think - it is systemic- it is absorbed through the leaves then goes down to the roots. This can take ages- sometimes 2-3 weeks or more.

I wanted to know if spraying it on the leaves of ivy covering the ground could have entered the root system of the shrub - but why would the ivy still be alive?

I think it works on anything.

It's lethal.

Last year I sprayed some pesky brambles that keep rooting on my border and lost a lovely euphorbia because the wind blew it onto its leaves.

Needless to say the bramble survived.

It is not lethal to humans- it's just a normal spray that you can buy in all garden shops and similar.

Yes do wear a mask, it's not nice if it blows into your face

BTW the best way to get rid of brambles by poison is to cut them back to the stump of the plant if you can reach it, and paint the newly cut end with Stump Out. I've conquered loads by doing this. some you have to come back to, if they are a few years established, but you can get them in the end.
