Rambling rose-first year?

Hi all,
(and happy mothers day to the mums!)
I was lucky enough to be let loose in the garden centre today and bought amongst other things a Rosa Albertine and a clematis Montana (elizabeth).
I'm so impatient to 'wait and see' so I just wondered how high / fast I can expect these to grow during the first year? I can only find info on the overall heights after 5 years but I want to know about just this year!!

Thanks all!
Annie

Clematis montana - will cover a shed eventually but this will take about 4-5 years. Expect a nice 3m growth this year.

Similar with Albertine; a couple of metres this year then she'll get away properly in the next year or two.

Thanks so much! so should I not start pruning until they get too big for what I'm after or should I still prune the rose hard at certain times??

Prune the rose only to remove weak, dead or crossing growth. Leave in the good long shoots and train them where you want them to go.
The clematis - just leave it. It will grow!
