I have been inspired by the threads on this lovely board and now after speaking to a lovely lady at my local council my name has been added to the list of one site.

I am a novice and very inexperienced but its always something ive wanted to have a go at. The kids are keen to help and there will be so many benefits and a lot of pleasure gained too. My mum who has some experience of veggie growing said she will share the plot with me which will help too.

There is a two two year wait but I dont mind as it will give me time to grow my own veg at home in pots and get experience that way.

I cant wait!

What are you planning on growing?

I think onions and potatoes. Courgettes and runner beans although my mum is a dab hand at those. Ive got basil and parsley in pots on my window sill. Maybe some salad stuff too.

The only thing that concerns me is pests such as slugs etc. How do I prevent those

There are plenty of natural pesticides (google is your friend!). Cherry tomatoes are quite easy depending on which area you're in.
