I was thinking of going out in the garden to tidy it up a wee bit as its looking a bit sad.....

.....what sort of things should I be doing to get it ready for spring/summer?

I'm not very green fingered it has to be said

TIA!

Cutting back the dead leaves of Peonies
Clearing dead leaves from around plants
Cutting hedges
Cutting back any dead plant material
Cleaning greenhouses/plantpots/propogators ect.
Weeding, there are loads of weed seedlings coming up already.
Edging the lawn, even if it is too wet to cut-it instantly makes it look neater.
Sweetpeas can be sown now too.
Happy gardening

lawns have edges?!!

charliecat · 23/01/2006 21:18

Theres loads of bulbs in the shops if you fancy spending some money before you get busy out there

I did my edges the other weekend
And very naughty mowed my lawn with manual mower at w/e
It looks fab, we had 2 days of dry wind so it has come up really nice
I recommend Greenthumb btw for lawns

Brrr, nto much it's way too chilly !! I prefer the wild look atm lol . Don't seem to have much budding or bulbs appearing which is a bit disappointing.

My garden looks pathetic at the moment. Mainly fallen rotting leaves from the trees. During Autumn I was really vigilant about raking & sweeping them away, but I stopped when the rain came and the weather got cold [big lazy chicken emoticon]. I need to get out and do it but I can't be ar$ed .

I want Spring to hurry up so my shrubs start re-growing after their harsh cutting back and give me back some privacy !

Had a good couple of hours in the garden on Sunday - doing about half the things on Mirages list.Filled up the garden wheelie bin with clipping and almost filled my compost bin with dead plant stuff.Pfiffle - you must live in the south as its too wet and cold to mow the lawn up north (even if I felt the urge)
