Not going for expensive flowers borders. There is a 70cm border between the house and path - its in the sun (gets very hot) could I have a list of suitable plants/shrubs please. Not too much varitaion in colours but a bit of floral (clamatis) would be nice plus any herbs (say lavendar)all year coverage would be nice too. This property is going for holiday rental within the few years so I need to keep it simple. What about box hedging too? Once I have my list where is the best place to order? do some of you use specialist nurseries or do you pick up bargins in say Wilkinsons?

You could pick up a load of lavender plants at a car boot - very easy. Rosemary likes hot and free draining, hebes are also easy if you water them in well at first.
I find supermarket and wilko plants fine if you see something you like the look of - and car boots.

Have a look at Crocus for suggestions of plants for certain situations.

Most mediterranean plants will enjoy dry sunny conditions. Box looks best when it's cut to shape a couple of times a year, so it would depend how often and when you will be visiting in future, ditto some climbers.

There is an RHS guide to right plant right place too, which is pretty comprehensive.
