Not really gardening I know! Someone bought me one of those orchids in a pot about 3 months ago and it has been flowerless now for about 2 weeks.Do I throw it away or keep it?Are they just like a longer lasting bunch of flowers?TIA

Depending on what type of orchid, it should reflower quite freely when it is ready. If the flowers are on a distinct flower stem, cut that off quite low down. Keep in a bright spot out of direct sun. Water thoroughly but only rarely: orchids hate to stand in wet roots. Allow compost to dry out completely between watering, and let all surlpus water drain away.

You could feed in a few weeks. Shops sell speicialist orchid food -- or just use standard houseplant food diluted two or three times as much as instructions say.
