Which seeds can me and DD plant this weekend?

DD is 9.8 and this is the first time we've had a garden in a temperate part of the world.
She told me this morning that she wants to plant some seeds to make the garden lovely this summer [optimistic].
What sort would be suitable for growing inside ready to plant out when the spring comes. We do have a massive garden centre very close, but I'd like an idea of what is easy to grow, guaranteed to flower and smells nice. Tall order or not?
DH just looked like this when I said me and girly were gardening.

We always start with sunflowers. Plant them indoors, they start to sprout after a day or two and then plant outdoors when the weather gets warm and watch how high they grow,.
We do it every year and grandson [11] still loves doing it.
Use the biodegradable fibre pots and then plant the pots straight into the ground.

Indoor herbs can be planted now as can outside Broad Beans (might be a bit late tbh but mine were planted yesterday which will mean they are a bit later to be eaten than my neighbours.

Potatoes can be chitted.

Garlic can be planted.

Sadly I organise at this time of year by cleaning out greenhouse, sorting seeds in to month by month growing and by drawing up plans for the big veg patch. It's the only thing I can really do until March when I go 'seed crazy'.

We did actually get some sunflower seeds and started them off. DD is such a clumsy careless little girl, she knocked them over yesterday and I made her sweep them all up and throw the mess into the garden.
Runor, lovely ideas, but we only have about 4 square metres of plantable beds, the rest is lawn. I don't know what chitted is TBH, I do enjoy pottering on kreecher acres, but only weeding and watering if I am totally honest.
