Why have the birds disappeared from my garden? Do they know it's going to be a horrendous winter or something?

The greedy birds always eat up the bird seed in the feeder within 48 hours, usually sparrows get most of it then the pigeons and blackbirds pick up what gets scattered. Even in the winter they finish it off in no time.

But I last filled it up 10 days ago and it hasn't been touched, not a sign of a bird in the garden - nothing .

Have they all flown south this year as their birdy second sense has told them we're in for a dreadful few months.

No idea. I've had loads in the garden today - they're really desperate now.
Is there a cat in the vicinity?

No cats. And we're in a town, I would have thought they would have stuck to towns where there are more scraps to eat.

Maybe one of my neighbours has been feeding them too much and they aren't bothered with my garden anymore.
