Good novice gardening presents for a forthcoming festive occasion

I know that some people get twitchy if Christmas is mentioned early outside of its own topic but am looking for some gardening presents for my DH who's a bit of a newbie (As am I)

Any good sites you'd recommend that aren't too much of a rip off??

I'd say either the RHS encyclopaedia of gardening. It covers everything so will be helpful for years (not the A-Z by the way, that's something different).

Membership of th RHS would be good too, lots if gardens to visit, a monthly magazine and an advice line.

I think that's what would have actually helped me most when I started out.

Or alternatively membership of Garden Organic if veg growing is more his thing?
