We're in a new house and have no idea if there are bulbs planted anywhere. I suspect not.

Am I too late to plant now. I'd normally have done this by now.

Also, since I may choose not to bulb it, prferring to totally redig the whole space (new garden is mature but neglected) are there any tips for bulbs in pots - have always planted bulbs in ground before.

Lol, I planted mine in December last year and they still came up! So I would go for it! Grin

I plant mine in pots, just shove them in (as long as they are the right way up) Blush

Definitely not too late. Tulips should be planted in November.

I plant lots of bulbs in pots. You will need large pots, plant the bulbs as deep as you would in the garden, and in two layers. Make sure that the root end of the top bulbs are not positioned over the growing ends of the lower layer. I love tulips and grape hyacinths in together. I actually think mini daffs and narcissi look better in pots than the full size ones - they can just get too leggy.

October is bulb-planting time!

Make sure they are deep enough.
