This summer I have finally made a start on clearing the wilderness that is our garden. The garden has obviously been planted by someone who knew what they were doing, but over time has become choked with weeds and is now very overgrown. Thanks to our 3 hens we can now actually see where one of the borders is. I have started cutting things back and weeding and have found a camellia and a magnolia - I think. But they have long spindly branches with a few leaves on the end and instead of growing up they seem to just be spreading outwards. Can anyone give me advice on pruning etc. I don't want to kill them but they can't stay as they are. All advice would be very welcome.
