Pigeon problem

Hi,

We have a problem with pigeons perching on the top of the safety net of our trampoline, they sit there all day and crap all over it, at the moment it's so bad I won't let the kids play on it. We're planning to clean it all up this weekend, but I'm sure the pesky birds will cover it all again within a day or so.

We tied up some old CDs to try to scare them off, this didn't work, the pests just sit there the same. DD wants to make a scare crow, we might give this a go. DH wants to install some pigeon spikes, but they are expensive, and surely unsafe atop a trampoline like this.

Anyone have any ideas? I'd shoot them, only I might alarm the neighbours!

I wonder about putting some of that plastic spike stuff on the top - the kind they say to use on top of fences? Hopefully they will stop soon, maybe take it down and cover the trampoline with an old sheet until they stop coming? We had pigeons in our garden a lot because one of the neighbours kept putting bread out for them but they seem to have moved on now.

I've trained my dc to run, screaming and shouting to chase away any pigeons that dare land in our garden. It keeps them fit and the trampoline crap free!

But it may have more to do with our neighbour who does actually try to shoot them. (the pigeons not out children)
