Thread ready for results day tomorrow!

That sounds expensive!! DD is our 3rd to go to Uni but with age gaps and gap years there has been no overlap at all.

My niece is at Bristol and loving it.

We have emailed their remark team and let them know we intend to remark but I think if if goes up they would only offer for next year?

Notts was insurance and they have offered him, but Bath is where he always wanted to be.

@AuntyBulgaria DS just missed the A* in that maths!

Finally got to hear he got AAB! But not in the subjects expected. He got an A for the one he expected a B for and vice versa. But it's exactly what his University asked for and place was confirmed earlier. We were expecting ABB. He was a few marks of an A star. And the B was 5 marks off an A. Wondering if it's worth asking for a review as he'd get a big chunk of money if he got three A's.

Yes, I’ve been checking these threads ever since DS’s A levels in 2006, so 20 years.
I also started an ‘empty nest’ support thread after DD went to uni in 2008, which actually kept getting revived for several years after - it seemed helpful for quite a lot of people.

Yeah see what you mean still an excellent uni,we went there on a visit and was v impressed, but can understand the pull to bath xx

It's for History. Had heard from previous years that they sometimes accepts a grade lower but this year their applications have doubled apparently so no flexibility despite getting a higher grade in another subject. Hope it goes well for your niece and let us know when you have some news :)

Thank you @SwanWings I know he's done so well anyway, I feel we shouldn't be moaning about it really but its hard when he set his heart on something.

When this happened to my daughters friend, she still got in but with only two weeks noticed
I guess it could be it some others deferred or made other choices

but she had to get her shit sorted fast so I do think there’s still a chance x

Yes I can get that, often it’s a place that often pulls at the heart too isn’t not just the course etc

Is he studying Economics at university .?

@Lampzade he had applied for MORSE at Warwick and he is doing maths with economics at Loughborough.

International applications have fallen off a cliff for many universities, which means they are keen to increase their UK undergraduate numbers. This means that many will be much more flexible this year than at other times - the same thing happened last year. However, that doesn't mean that they weren't impressed by his personal statement, and that his predicted grades suggest he has the aptitute and skills that they want.

Would he be able to do a different course at the same place and then see if he wants to swap/ do optional modules in year 2?

Dd got an A star in Edexcel maths - and she doesn’t do Further Maths. I am impressed!

My DD has had a really tough year at uni due to developing arthritis. She managed to get through her modules and all but one were at 2:1 grades. When she went to visit some of her uni friends this summer she discovered they all seemed to be doing resits which made her feel quite proud and realise she had achieved something good!

We never want them to go through tough times but it can make them aware of their capabilities.

Firm choice confirmed at Bath for Aerospace Engineering - he got A star in maths and As in physics comp sci and further maths. 3 marks off an A star in physics but won't bother with a review.

@JustHereWithMyPopcorn we have an email from Bath with a bit in it about re marks
It says if you get it re marked and the grade changes - by 1st sept - then they will still admit. After sept 1st it may be for the following year. If you pm me your email address I will find it and send you a screen shot!!

I know everyone is different and I am not disputing that Durham is a great uni but I went there to study History and hated it. Graduated 4 years later with a degree from… Warwick! after a wonderful uni experience 🖤

DD got A ⭐️ A, B!

I’m so proud of her and just wish she’d stop beating herself up about the B!! She got her firm and is off to the pub….

Ah feck it. Dd didn't get what she wanted. Was offered a different course at her insurance but it's not what she wanted to do. Gap year planned anyway so not throwing her through clearing

Most universities 'auto-confirm' but Durham requires the student to confirm within a certain number of days, not sure if any others follow this bonkers approach!

DD got into her firm- Durham for Biology - 3As and EPQ A*! This is a kid who we had to remove from school in y9 BC of anxiety. She took igcses online and returned, bravely, to her physical school for Alevels. What a journey!!!!!

DD got into her firm, Bristol. AAA and an A⭐️ for her EPQ. We got through onto the UCAS portal before heading to school so it was a relaxed walk in.

Well done to all whatever their next steps are.
