Good luck to everyone with exams in the week - sounds like a really busy week all round!

DS has English literature 2 this morning then History 2 on Tuesday and, finally, Economics 3 on Thursday morning. A busy week but all over after this. Thank goodness 😊

Best of luck for English literature and Accountancy today 🌟🌟 you guys have got this!

ArchitectureMum · 01/06/2026 06:59

Good luck to those with exams today.

DD finally gets going on Wednesday. Lots of practice papers over half term as well as a couple of days out with friends etc. She doesn’t finish until 18th which is after most of her friends. One of each subject for each of the next three weeks.

Ventress · 01/06/2026 07:06

Have the tube strikes been cancelled @Echobelly? could be useful if they have!

did you manage to swap your dc’s university to Manchester? I still think clearing is a good option if necessary.

I’m so sorry to hear about your DDs pet @TeenLifeMum. That’s so hard for her. Let’s hope bunny stays the course 💐

thank you @Tebheagand @Fabfabfab- 9 hours per day is extreme! I’m lucky if DS manages an hour! Going to Sicily does sound fantastic @GirlsInGreen. I’m sure your dd will get her firm.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 01/06/2026 08:21

Physics paper 2 for DS this morning, he's way more nervous today than he was with his first one. Chemistry paper 1 tomorrow morning and then Maths paper 1 on Wednesday. What a way to start June!!

I'm sending all the positive vibes out to the exam takers, best of luck to them all.

Ventress · 01/06/2026 09:47

Best of luck @JustHereWithMyPopcorn- what a week!

Fabfabfab · 01/06/2026 10:00

Hope they do well this week. DC is currently in the middle of English. 2.5 hours of writing is quite a lot but I know it could be worse and some have 2 exams in a day. At least it’s not as hot as last week. He did 2 past papers yesterday and asked AI to mark them. The first one was a C which he was really upset about but then got an Astar on the second. Not sure how good AI is at marking papers….

Glittertwins · 01/06/2026 10:17

Physics 2 ongoing right now. Didn’t seem too apprehensive earlier, maybe they now got over the shock of the first one. Fingers crossed all goes well and now it’s cooled down, it should be better for concentration and overnight sleep generally.

Glittertwins · 01/06/2026 11:41

Apparently paper 2 wasn’t too bad!

Newlease · 01/06/2026 12:59

Phy paper 2 went okay! Hope Eng and Business exams went well too!
Sounds like this week is full on for most of them. We have Maths 1 and FM paper 3, luckily one day off between exams!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 01/06/2026 13:08

DS says Physics Paper 2 was OK but he knows he made a mistake on one of the questions by using the wrong equation and has lost all marks on that question because of it. Hopefully he did better on the other questions.

Ventress · 01/06/2026 13:24

DS said the English literature 2 was “brilliant” and “fantastic”. He thinks he covered all of the AOs. Phew!

Glad physics 2 was okay 😊

The good thing about physics is you can get quite a lot wrong and still get a high grade. It seems like it's about 60% overall for an A! For AQA at least..

My son said it was harder than paper 1, but managed to have a go at all questions.

DC said English 2 went well, but that it was the hardest of all the exams so far (although said it was actually easier than predicted). He felt paper 1 was brilliant. @Ventress is your DC's exam board OCR?

Lots of his friends did physics today and the general view seemed to be that it was a difficult paper.

Ventress · 01/06/2026 16:12

Yes OCR @FabfabfabDS thought both were papers were good, but this one he enjoyed more.

This week is busy but his favourite topics. He’s doing some history now ahead of tomorrow’s exam (finally some revision is being done!)

Hopefully the physics paper is as @SilverBlue4says and you can drop marks and still get a good score 🤞

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 01/06/2026 16:52

@SilverBlue4 I've had that exact conversation with DS, although we are Edexcel and I think an A has been 67% for the past two years and that's the grade he needs. I've said try and ensure paper 3 is solid but don't worry about it until Thursday when Maths and Chem are done.

Glad everyone (so far) has found today's various exams OK.

Tebheag · 01/06/2026 19:46

Accountancy went well good to hear other exams today went well. Only 10 days to go and DS is finished. Suddenly going by fast.

Ventress · 02/06/2026 07:34

Glad to hear that Accounting went well!

DS has history 2 this afternoon- his favourite subject of all those he’s taking. Hopefully that’ll help.

Good luck to everyone with exams today 🌟🌟🤞👏

hels71 · 02/06/2026 07:50

Apparently Lit/Lang paper 2 went ok. But much more important is the fact that " no more English EVER!!!" Maths 1 tomorrow!!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 02/06/2026 08:14

Urgh what is this weather! It’s torrential rain here and I’ve got a stressed DS driving in it to school (can you tell I’m getting nervous too?!)
First Chem exam today and what was he doing last night? Gaming and drawing. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Good luck to everyone today, hope history goes well @Ventress

TruffulaTree · 02/06/2026 08:39

DS has Chem 1 this morning and History 2 this afternoon! 😬I hope he'll be ok in History as he panicked and lost it in the first paper he did before half term. Unlike him, so hoping it was a glitch. I think he'll benefit from going back into exam mode and being in every day, after what seemed like such a long hot half term with very little contact with his peers. He prefers to revise at school so that's what he'll be doing.

Fingers crossed for the exam gods to smile on them all and give them good, confidence-boosting papers!

Ventress · 02/06/2026 09:00

Good luck with chemistry this morning @JustHereWithMyPopcornand everyone else! I remember chem being so hard., I don’t envy your dc!

History can be horrible @TruffulaTree. My son’s problem usually comes down to time. It’s just such a broad syllabus and he writes such a lot. Great that your son is able to revise at school.

DS was still wandering around at 2am and his hay fever has hit him so he’s taking anti-histamines. Hopefully it won’t affect his concentration and performance today 🤞

ComingInByAnsible · 02/06/2026 09:23

Welcome to all new posters, it’s great to see so much discussion happening.

Just reviving after the heatwave, it has been a (sluggish) struggle here at 33C, despite us all loving the sun. @JustHereWithMyPopcorn, we have torrential rain here as well, but it feels like a relief (plus I can stop watering the garden)! Hope your DS got into school ok.

Here both kids persevered with revision (DS more so than his sister) but both struggling to make things stick and just want the exams to be over.

Glad to read that exams are going reasonably well so far this week for others, good luck with the forthcoming ones. DS has history modern Britain this afternoon - his hardest subject.

@Ventress, so sorry to read that you are life limited. I hope the limits last a long time, and that you are not uncomfortable.

Countrylife2002 · 02/06/2026 11:27

Desperately hoping history is good this afternoon! DD also panicked and had a horrendous first paper. She’s super calm and confident today so I’m keeping out of her way with my jingly nerves!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 02/06/2026 13:38

@ComingInByAnsible we now have lovely sunshine again! You're right, the garden definitely needed it but people turn into idiots on the road when the rain comes and so I was worried about him driving in that when he's thinking about exams.

Chem 1 seemed to go well according to DS. Inorganic is his least favourite so he's glad to have it out of the way. Keeping fingers crossed for the History DCs his afternooon.

DS has had lunch and now I've given him some practice maths papers for this afternoon. He hates me. 😂

ComingInByAnsible · 02/06/2026 14:17

Wow that’s tough love @JustHereWithMyPopcorn, he’ll appreciate it really further down the line! 😁 Glad chemistry went well.

DS is in his history exam right now and we have a thunderstorm! I really hope they don’t get interrupted by a power cut. @Countrylife2002, solidarity with your nerves!
