I’m definitely not in with the cool kids on that other thread! Dd likes to chat about her exams so I know a lot about them but I can’t see how that means she’s not independent. Anyhow, she’s still got 4 exams left but she’s buoyed by successes this week. Has really motivated her which is a relief! I’m also pleased to see that although she’s hoping to go to Notts with all the troubles it has, her course has moved further up the latest league tables. Hoping that’s a good omen

Ventress · 06/06/2026 15:17

Thank you all for your support.

I wonder if I read the opening post and initial replies incorrectly but it seems I didn’t. I lost my temper and for that I apologise. I’m glad I hid the thread though!

I hope further maths yesterday afternoon went well for your dc .

Have a good, relaxing, weekend.

Shinyandnew1 · 06/06/2026 15:41

Psychology 3 yesterday was NOT a good one for my young person-not a happy bunny and worried about getting the grade needed for uni :(

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 06/06/2026 17:50

@Shinyandnew1 I’m sorry to hear that, hopefully it went better than they think. Fingers crossed for them.

BlackBean2023 · 07/06/2026 14:51

We’ve instructed builders to start on an extension today - and they’ve had a cancellation so are starting on 29th June… from one stress to another! Last weekend of revision here and it’s been distinctly lacking revision. Angry

My dd was the same. She did OCR and said the huge essay question was on the same study as last years paper so she hadn’t really looked at it in depth. So could hardly recall it.. risky strategy that did not pay off! Feel gutted for her as she’s hoping to study psychology at Bath in September. Here’s hoping they made up marks in the other papers!

MiniMidiMaxi · 07/06/2026 22:57

Sorry the psychology exam didn’t quite go totally to plan @Shinyandnew1, @Onthesofawithmydog - I’m interested in their experience as my younger DS is considering it for A level and it’s my degree subject and sort-of career (and was not really an option when I did A levels!).

DS has his last Physics paper tomorrow - he views it as the hardest one and has stepped up prep after the first two. Good luck to all who have papers tomorrow too.

Ventress · 08/06/2026 06:58

Good luck with the extension @BlackBean2023- that’s a lot to take on! I’m sure your daughter will be fine. Great that it’s the last week of exams!

very best of luck with physics this morning @MiniMidiMaxiand everyone else taking physics today 💐

phycology doesn’t sound great @Shinyandnew1and @Onthesofawithmydog. I’m positive they would have done better than they thought 🤞

we had a big talk with DS yesterday afternoon. DH won’t go into his room as it’s so grim. As DH is doing so much at the moment, and we are going away for a few days today, DH has said that his room needs to be cleaned, cleared and tidied by the time we get back. Otherwise we’re moving DS to the garage with the enormous spiders! 😂

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 08/06/2026 08:09

DS just headed in for Physics Paper 3, praying Edexcel haven’t decided to throw any curveballs into any other exams! Horrible weather again today.

@BlackBean2023 good luck with the extension. I’m assuming exams all finished in your household?

sorry to hear the psychology exam didn’t go well @Onthesofawithmydog keeping fingers crossed she gets what she needs for Bath.

I like your motivational skills @ventress I imagine the whole house will be spotless when you get home! 😂

Good luck for physics… just checked the weather and looks like back to sun and heat for the weekend… great timing!! Last geography paper this afternoon so keeping everything crossed this makes up for psychology… two more to go here! 🙌

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/06/2026 08:26

DS is finally 18! Lovely but low key celebrations and no alcohol until after his exams - his choice!!!

WJEC physics unit 4 this morning. Only 2 hours today compared to the 2 1/4 hours for unit 3 last week.

Good luck to all those sitting exams today.

DS will be finished on Friday - just in time for the weather to improve again!

ArchitectureMum · 08/06/2026 08:32

Happy birthday to your DS @Muchtoomuchtodo and good luck to the physicists and geographers today.

DD is still going in for lessons this week. Having been a bit horrified not to get study leave, I think she has appreciated the routine of it in the end. Breaks up her own revision.

RS tomorrow and Maths on Thursday for her this week.

Happy 18th birthday to your DS @Muchtoomuchtodo !

BlackBean2023 · 08/06/2026 10:56

Happy birthday to your DS @MiniMidiMaxi- once you’re an adult summer birthdays are the best!

@JustHereWithMyPopcornDD finishes on Friday - builders will start on 29th! It will certainly give me something to focus on whilst waiting for results… and we’re expecting the builders to be leaving around the same time as DD will (hopefully) leave for University- the house will feel very quiet in October although we do have DD2 who is only 9 still around!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/06/2026 11:43

Physics was ‘a really good one!’ apparently!

🤞🏻 he says the same about maths and further maths at the end of the week

Hope physics and geography went well for everyone else too

HighburyHope · 08/06/2026 12:21

Anyone’s DC done Edexcel Politics 2 this morning? I won’t hear from DD until much later on, as she’s quarantined for her double-header with French.

Ours was OCR, same comment about it it being a good paper.
(edited because I couldn’t read that the board had already been written!)

HighburyHope · 08/06/2026 12:59

Reddit tells me that Edexcel Politics 2 had big questions on devolution and select committees - both of which we did good revision sessions on yesterday. So pleased!

Katymaus · 08/06/2026 13:33

This is such a wonderful thread - I only discovered it after my DC's exams started and have been following but haven't posted til now - just want to put my hand up and say thank you to all of you for one of the most supportive threads on Mumsnet.
Good luck for all the exams still to come for your DCs!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 08/06/2026 14:01

DS came home pretty happy about the Physics paper (Edexcel for all of his exams) but not sure if he was just happy that he never has to do a Physics paper again!

SilverBlue4 · 08/06/2026 15:27

AQA paper 3 and astrophysics unanimously a good paper for my son and his friends. Very suspicious 🤣

Onto computer science next.

Sounds like a good day today. Dd maths revision going well, it’s between a C and a B for maths and she’s just tipping into B in practice papers she thinks. The anticipation of results is going to be a challenge I think.

Can't keep track of which board she's doing (also got one doing GCSEs), but politics was good, she had loads to write a out but didn't quite finish.

DS sat this . He was disappointed because he's spent too long on the source question and then felt he rushed the devolution question. The ideology question he did was feminism and was a version of a question he did last night so hopefully he has done enough.

Onthesofawithmydog · 08/06/2026 18:03

Glad the physics went well… geography also has gone well in our household.. whoop! One more to go! @Katymaus i agree… also dipping into the gcse thread as I have another one doing GCSEs but far prefer the supportive nature of this one… I think by this stage we have all left the competitiveness behind!
