Tell me this is easier with child no 2! Ds has GCSES next year. Opposite issue with him, he’s just into music not academic - but he does have to pass English maths to get into the school he wants.

No, sorry, it isn't! 😬

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/05/2026 13:45

Great news on the art @ArchitectureMum

Good luck to them all today.

HereWeAreToday · 19/05/2026 15:17

Hope today went well for all those with exams

ComingInByAnsible · 19/05/2026 17:10

DS reasonably happy with history (crusades). He ran out of time a little bit concluding the last essay but otherwise he is quite pleased. He is now half way through his exams! Next up geography on Thursday.

Hope everyone else fared well today!

gingercat02 · 19/05/2026 17:21

OCR history (Russia) was a bit of a mare, 30 marker, good, one 25 OK, other 25, terrible. Seems everyone thought it was the worst paper they have seen.
However that's the worst over now. Human Geography on Thursday and then done until the 2 and 11 June.

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 19/05/2026 17:33

Hello just jumped on here to see about history. Apparently Pearson's History US paper was difficult too.

Echobelly · 19/05/2026 17:36

DC happy with first exam today (history) Apparently they correctly predicted what the first question would be!

Exactly same here. First question fantastic, other two awful . Bit of a shock.

Ventress · 19/05/2026 18:01

DS very happy with OCR Tudors. Said it was hard but very good.

All over until after half term now. DS says he’s going to stay in bed tomorrow!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/05/2026 18:12

Are there any science DCs on here? I feel like it's only DS doing Physics tomorrow!

I think it would be nice at some point to make a little chart of what the DCs are hoping to study and at which Uni so I we can remember what everyone's doing. We did one a few years back for my older DS's year and it was really helpful.

Ventress · 19/05/2026 19:14

That’s a great idea @JustHereWithMyPopcorn. Perhaps on the new thread that it looks like we’ll need! @scandinavianyelloware you able to set up a new thread please?

No science here I’m afraid but there must be several young people doing physics tomorrow. I hope it goes well for your son!

Mine! I offered him the mini revision course this evening on physics online for a recap but he said no. Well he actually said "I'll leave it for now" 🤣

He's been working hard and doing what he needs to on past papers but I'm still scared. He has to get an A for his firm.

Then further maths on Thursday.

He's doing maths and computer science as well so the three weeks after half term are not much fun.

Good luck to your DS for tomorrow 🙂

Fabfabfab · 19/05/2026 19:26

DC said medieval History (Pearsons) went really well today. It's his favourite topic so he was pleased that it went well. Think the other two might be a bit harder for him. Thankfully no more exams until after half term and is now half way through a-levels and planning a well deserved lie in tomorrow and dinner with his girlfriend.

Hope Geography and Physics and other subjects go well this week!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/05/2026 19:35

@SilverBlue4 yes after half term is full on for DS too, he’s also doing maths and chemistry. Your DS must be the last exam taker of the year if he’s doing further maths.

Good luck for tomorrow!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/05/2026 19:37

I hope all the DCs who have been full on this week have a lovely rest this weekend before hitting the revision again. It’s due to be a scorcher so we will be dusting off the BBQ for some burnt offerings from DH! 😄

ComingInByAnsible · 19/05/2026 19:48

Same here @JustHereWithMyPopcorn, we are planning on marking the halfway point (both A levels and GCSEs) with a BBQ. Can’t believe it’s actually looking like good weather for the half term!

Well done to all DC persevering, however hard it gets. What wonderful young people! Hope the half term offers some respite.

@Ventress, it looks like the last post by @scandinavianyellow was back in October (hope all is well with you, Scandinavian), so we might need someone else to start a new thread. You are right, we need one!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/05/2026 19:55

Shall we start gathering courses and hopes for /firmed uni now then?

DS is Chemistry for Drug Discovery (MChem) with a year in industry at Uni of Bath

Ventress · 19/05/2026 19:59

Marking the half way point with a bbq is a great idea!

We are having a bbq on Saturday as it’s my sister in law’s birthday and she is coming to stay. I’m looking forward to it but possibly not as much as her cocker spaniel!😀

Good point @ComingInByAnsible. I will talk someone into setting up a new thread ( looking at@JustHereWithMyPopcorn are you interested?)

Ventress · 19/05/2026 20:00

Wonderful thanks @SilverBlue4😀

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/05/2026 20:02

If we get a list together on the last page here we could add it to the first page of the new thread. Thanks @SilverBlue4 !

Another good idea @JustHereWithMyPopcorn

DS wants to do history and has firmed UCL.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/05/2026 20:24

I have @SilverBlue4 ! I’ve added @Ventress too but don’t have all the details.
