I can’t edit on my phone but my DD has firmed Exeter for History. BBB contextual offer.

MiniMidiMaxi · 19/05/2026 21:38

Found you all. Sorry that History seemed a bit gruelling for some today, I think essay subjects are much harder to self-evaluate as you naturally compare to what you might do in non-exam conditions, hope that's the case.
DS has Physics tomorrow then FM on Thursday.
He's under the weather though, head cold, so have been researching non-drowsy med options. But he feels pretty well prepared, just need to make sure his brain is working properly!

AuntyBulgaria · 19/05/2026 21:38

DS' 18th on Bank holiday Monday - I might even allow him a day off!
DS has firmed Maths, operational research, statistics and economics.(MORSE) at Warwick. I'll try adding that to the spreadsheet.

MiniMidiMaxi · 19/05/2026 21:41

Meant to post on the new thread! App being weird tonight!

For the summary info - DS planning on degree apprenticeship in Engineering. Back-up / uni alternative is Bath, integrated mechanical & electrical engineering.

DS seriously considered that before he settled on Engineering, it sounds like a brilliant course.

Many thanks @SilverBlue4 for the new thread and also for the spreadsheet. Unfortunately I also can’t edit from my phone. But great idea, @JustHereWithMyPopcorn! DS has firmed Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Warwick, and he needs AstarAA.

SilverBlue4 · 19/05/2026 22:23

I think I've added all who can't do it via phone 🙂

ComingInByAnsible · 19/05/2026 22:37

Thanks very much, @SilverBlue4 🙂

Are there any science DCs on here? I feel like it's only DS doing Physics tomorrow!

I think it would be nice at some point to make a little chart of what the DCs are hoping to study and at which Uni so I we can remember what everyone's doing. We did one a few years back for my older DS's year and it was really helpful.

We are too, and then FM on tomorrow. Not heard anything from DD yet

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 20/05/2026 16:59

What board @Newlease DS did Edexel and found it OK, @MiniMidiMaxi DS found the AQA one tougher as did his class mates. We're on the other thread now...

Oh God, since DC accepted Goldsmith's I've spoken to two friends - one who formerly worked there and another who works in London uni admin generally - and they were both really negative about its prospects, as in any course could be at risk of withdrawal, or in the very least not to expect to finish the course with it being the same place it was at the start. I worry the low offer was desperation to fill course places.... 😭I did know it wasn't stable and I did warn DC, but they were determined. I do gather that if a course is withdrawn students will get offered something similar at the same uni or somewhere else, but it would be really disappointing for them.

I'm wondering if there might be any way to bring them round to Manchester if they get the grades it asked for , and if so, if there's any way to bring Manchester round after they accepted Goldsmiths... just if we keep getting bad news, or if DH gets wind of it...

What course? It is very much a matter of what area, given future plans.
