Year 12 BTEC results

Sorry to rely on number to answer a question my 17 year old DS should be able to answer but can’t.

he has just finished year 12 so got his BTEC business result on results day. He got a merit but has no idea if this is just for the exam they sat in summer term or also includes his course work, giving a final end of year overall result.

does anyone know please? Thank you!

My guess is just the exam as surely they won't cash in until the full course is complete?
What does the resits slip say?
Xxx exam or eg subsidiary Diploma?

How many A level equivalent is his BTEC?

Oh it was his first attempt. It just says ‘unit grade achieved’ Merit. But I’m not sure if that is the final overall grade for that unit or just the exam

Were there definitely assignments for that unit? You can check the spec. Though that sounds like the grade for that unit from your wording. He will have done more than 1 unit this year though, won't he?

That should be for the unit grade. I think on the sheet it will have the guide learning hours and name of the unit also.

My son's doing a single level 3 but in a different subject.

The exam converts into points. A Distinction is 32 points a merit from memory is 20-31 points and pass something like 10-19 points for exams worth 120 GLH

They are adjusted for lower GLH units. In my son's course the assignment units are worth 60 GLH and a D is 16 and and merit 10.

You add up the points of all the exams and assignments and the number of points converts to the grade.
