Second level 3 BTEC

Does anyone know if you can get funding for a second BTEC at the same level, please? My DC is in their second year of a BTEC and trying to find out if, as they're under 19, they can undertake another next year without paying fees. They want to do it as it's more specialised to what they want to eventually do than the one they're doing now, which is very general. They've asked at college but not got a very definite answer.
Thanks.

I am not an expert, but i don't think so.

Once they have 3 A levels or a T level or level 3 btec extended diploma I don't believe they get a 3rd funding year.

The 3 years is to allow for a restart or doing a 1 year level 2 first.

Thanks @TeenToTwenties. That was my understanding too, but someone at the college said it might be possible, which has lead to confusion!

It is definitely possible.

DS is in the second year of a Level 3 BTEC in sport and exercise science. About half the class are staying on next year to do a further one year level 3 course in Personal Training. This is funded.

I think students are entitled to 3 years post-16 funding (not including university).

@TheRealMcKenna That's super. Happy to be shown to be wrong. Smile

It's possible if they are able to sit both years together.
