Placement year

If your dc did or is looking to do a placement year, how did they plan for a placement that is in a different part of the country?
I assume they just rent a room or house share for that year?
Is it lonely for them?

@foghead You might like to join the thread on Higher Education that’s talking about this. The difficulty is getting the placement. Yes, dc might have to take a room somewhere new.
