Engineering??

DS2 Y12 had a careers appointment at school and he said that engineering came up as a possibility for uni.

He is extremely uncommunicative of late....civil engineering was mentioned.

His grades aren't brilliant. In his last report he got CCC (Maths, Physics and Film Studies).
He's obviously just taken his mocks but, as I haven't seen much evidence of revision, I doubt there'll be an improvement.

Would he be able to do an Engineering course with these type of grades?
Any advice on what kind of engineering course might suit him?

He is also considering a gap year.
TBH, but he isn't showing any enthusiasm for much at all!

I’m not sure Op - DS wants to do engineering but has decided on Aerospace which is extremely competitive. We are also going to make sure he looks at general engineering as well as insurance. My understanding is most will want As in Maths and Physics so he’ll have some work to do; but it depends on Uni and some may accept Bs… a combinationn in of more work and a bit of research might get him there…

MotherIfCatBoy
Thanks for reply.

Yes, I knew the grades had to be high but wasn't sure that was all types of engineering.

Ah, same Op as the other thread!
Good luck, hope he figures it out. It does seem like it all comes up really fast doesn’t it?

Ha! It sure does.
Feel like I've taken my finger off the pulse a bit with DD doing GCSEs this year...
