Apprenticeships

I'm looking for some help with apprenticeships. My sd would like to explore this option but there's so few on the government website! Is there anywhere else that she can look?
I'm trying to support her mum in helping her find something. Uni is not an option due to poor performance in year 1 of a levels and being asked to leave one course so her options are limited now. Obviously she could go straight to full time work but she is reluctant to do this.
Any help is appreciated

Check your local county council website they sometimes have apprenticeship on there. Also on the gov.uk site there is a apprenticeship section. Good luck x

UCAS now lists apprenticeships: https://www.ucas.com/apprenticeships. There are neatly 9,000 on there at the moment.

Thank you so much! I'm off to have a look

Local colleges advertise what they offer and will know which employers send apprentices to them. So look at the local college or colleges.

Look at industry training bodies. What type of work does she want? Look at the web sites of larger employers in her area. As being an apprentice is a job, do a job hunt in the type of work she wants or Google “hairdressing apprenticeships in X town”. Or whatever type of job she wants.

It’s a huge shame there’s no coordinated database and search facility for areas of the UK. Each apprenticeship needs a separate application too.

Sorry to jump on the thread but does anyone know if you can do apprenticeships abroad?

DS found many that he applied to on Glassdoor. He started applying in September/October so there may be less around this late in the year (don't know this for sure though). He is going to be moving out and using his pay to rent a room, if that is something she could do it might give her more options.
