Hiya, wondered if anyone had any intel on whether one carried more weight than the other in terms of UCAS points and universities? DS is looking at lots of creative colleges for Music Production Level 3 diplomas and so far I've seen Brit (UAL) Access Creative (RSL) ELAM (UAL) - am wondering if the UAL one has a bit more behind it? Wondered if anyone had any information. Thanks!

Would either lead directly to a job or does he want a degree? You can do this at degree level with A levels. Would that be better for employment in the long run?

sorry, i'm unclear what you mean when you say 'You can do this at degree level with A Levels'? I think he'd like the option to be able to do a degree, i just wondered if either of the awarding bodies (RSL or UAL) had more of an impact in the UCAS system or to potential employers.

No idea. I just know a Dc who did it via A levels and a degree. You need to look at what degrees want. Also if these courses have good employment stats. What do alumni do?

Dd applying to some of the same colleges and others for music performance. I asked the question at one college. They said they preferred the combination of units that they could deliver with one over the other. Brit used to be RSL and switched. They both have the potential to deliver the same UCAS points as three top A-Levels. Don’t know about Access creative - but the other two send lots of students to top unis every year and certainly Brit mention that quite a few go to do non music subjects - sociology/ English etc. Hope that helps.

No, employers aren’t going to worry about the exam board of a L3 qualification
