This is a thread for supporting all young people post GCSEs 2020, regardless of their educational setting. It is respectfully requested that all are supportive and helpful to each other. If you want to start a debate, e.g state vs private, please don't within this thread. Please also be sensitive when responding to threads about grades.

Some of us have been here since first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. Everyone is welcome. It is hoped this will continue.

Our DS/DD may go down various paths (such as employment, apprenticeships, higher ed) We have decided for anyone interested they will most likely find us within the Further Ed board.

I’m feeling much better today, both dc had a brilliant time with friends yesterday and I’ve had a much better night’s sleep.
Thank you for all your reassurances and kindness. Funnily enough, I remember being at a drinks party a few years ago and got chatting to a cardiologist who said his job was glorified plumbing and that, as you said @delph, fairly straightforward if caught early.
I do hope the return to school goes smoothly for everyone, whether going straight into mocks or not.

We always find the week before mocks the worse for stress, the actual exam weeks are okay as DD has her head down.

DD has asked Swansea if she can have a points offer, and we've sent her Ed Phyc off to them as well. I'm hoping if they read that, they may do points, I know its a long shot, but we might as well ask.

For DD firm is Southampton, insurance is God knows. At the moment Plymouth has given DD the lowest offer so would be the sensible insurance choice but she's not keen.

The new formatting was a welcome distraction from what I am supposed to be doing, an OU essay due in an hour and a half

So not very good news here today. DH has just tested positive for Covid. DS1 is due to be tested in school in a couple of hours before starting his mocks. I have taken a test along with DS2 and both currently negative but my throat is definitely not right and I'm feeling a bit coldy in the head. I suspect we will all have it before the weeks out. That will be another beginning of term written off to Covid and possibly DS1s mocks.

Sorry to hear that Just. While part of me (probably the teenager part ) thinks that it's good timing to have avoided Christmas, it's really disappointing to have the beginning of term and mocks affected. Hope you all stay relatively well and get through it quickly
