My dd is currently considering Business, geography & sociology or politics.
Her plan after A levels is to do a business related degree.
Any thoughts of this subject choice?

Is she aiming at mid range unis?
If so, those choices are absolutely fine 😊

@spotcheck I’d guess so, probably not likely to be Russell group. Places like maybe Portsmouth, Sussex - not looked in too much detail yet.
However I do know if people applying for RG unis with no “traditional” academic A levels. Eg law, politics, philosophy, psychology, etc

Politics Psychology and Philosophy are traditional subjects though

Absolutely fine for the vast majority of business courses at all sorts of universities.

@SometimesRavenSometimesParrot thanks. We’ve just been a bit concerned that sociology maybe not be very well regarded. She’s so interested in the subject though !

Definitely perfectly well regarded. On the preferred subject list at Manchester: www.alliancembs.manchester.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/bsc-hons-international-management/entry-requirements/#course-profile

Out of that combination it is sociology that worries you? Hmm,OK...

It's a proper academic subject. Not one of the old so called facilitating subjects but only geography from that list is. It is far broader , more thought provoking and demanding than business and politics. (DSs have done all three and I teach sociology)

Geography and sociology are excellent in combination. Basically human geography is (an aspect of) sociology.
