Piggywaspushed · 04/09/2021 19:59

Boy threw himself in front of a train. Sent a tweet just beforehand...DS seen tweet

Zandathepanda · 04/09/2021 20:23

Piggy that’s awful. Please reiterate to your son that feeling anger and all other emotions are normal. The poor witnesses and everyone left behind.

Seeline · 04/09/2021 20:24

How dreadful Piggy. So difficult for his friends.

Delphigirl · 04/09/2021 20:49

Oh piggy I’m so sorry to hear that awful news. Utterly tragic. So young. Xx

BlueMarigold · 04/09/2021 21:36

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 04/09/2021 21:50

crazycrofter · 04/09/2021 21:51

That's so incredibly sad @Piggywaspushed, how awful for his family and friends.

mummabear74 · 04/09/2021 21:51

What horrible news piggy. Hope your DS is ok.

NCTDN · 04/09/2021 22:33

That's so awful. What that poor boys state of mind must have been to drive him to that SadSad

EwwSprouts · 04/09/2021 22:43

Piggy what an absolute tragedy, to feel such despair so young that you can see no brighter future. Devastating for all of you around him.

KingscoteStaff · 04/09/2021 23:44

That’s dreadful Piggy - what a terrible situation for your DS and all his peers.

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 05/09/2021 00:30

Thanks for kind thoughts, guys. His mum is a high profile vicar and her tweets and his tweets leading up to the event are heart rending.

DS spent a lot of time looking at them so I will keep an eye on him.

Monkey2001 · 05/09/2021 08:45

That is awful Piggy, but sadly common. One of my best friends is a train driver and he had a young man jump in front of his train a few weeks ago. Just awful for everybody. Hope your DS and the rest of Y13 are OK

Piggywaspushed · 05/09/2021 08:52

I feel so sorry for train drivers who have to deal with this too.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 05/09/2021 09:00

That’s the one @OrangeCinnamonCocktail .

@Fastforwardtospring

Joining -thanks, DS going into year 13 and absolutely no idea what he wants to do, will be looking at degree apprenticeships I think, doesn’t want to go to Uni. He’s a bright lazy boy when it comes to studying, although last 3 weeks he’s had a full time summer job and more or less jumps out of bed in the morning to go so working whilst studying will be his best route I think but interesting to join this thread for other views.
@Fastforwardtospring , I'm feeling the same about my DS. Bright but lazy boy, I wish he showed as much interest in his studying as he does in his part time job, he's very money orientated, so I think a degree apprenticeship would be ideal

Only difference is he really wants to go to Uni...!! Although I think it's the moving out of home part that is most appealing, and that's not impossible if he did an apprenticeship, he just doesn't want to look.

He started note making towards his personal statement yesterday, step in the right direction finally..

sofakingcool · 05/09/2021 09:34

Piggy that's awful, so sorry for your DS

sofakingcool · 05/09/2021 09:36

DS has come back from Reading so poorly, started off looking like tonsillitis, then went into his ears and now has an awful chesty cough. Asthma isn't happy at all. One of his camp mates tested positive on Wednesday so DS has been for a PCR but it's negative

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 05/09/2021 09:40

@sofakingcool and @Fastforwardtospring DS sounds very similar to both your DSs. He has had a job this summer (minimum wage which is shockingly low I think!) and he has worked every hour they give him - 8 hour days with 30min break sometimes mornings sometimes evenings til 11pm and he's not moaned once. The excitement of earning your own money and not having to ask for it is a big motivator! At the same time he has a very determined plan re university but has done next to nothing regarding school work, progressing uni stuff or practicing for 'entrance' exams. Even while he is sitting in bed all day he's just watching netflix!

DS didn't test positive til Friday but was ill all week. The period of becoming positive is quite wide so do keep testing him. I hope he starts to feel better soon, DS still snotty and coughing it all up.
