Hi all,

Hoping someone can help. I started college again last week to resit my maths, after this I plan on doing an access course (nursing or social havent quite made my mind up) I am wondering for anyone who has young children and gone back to study did you receive any help?

Bit of background, I am currently employed but have applied for voluntary redundancy as the company is making thousands of redundancies and I'll likely get it, will find out in a few weeks. My husband works full time earns 39k a year. My concern is child care, we have a 5 year old in school, a 9 month old and currently pregnant (shock) if I started the access course does anyone know if I would be entitled to any help with childcare or student funding? We wouldnt possibly be able to afford to put 2 babies in nursery while I study and have no income.. husband would pay morgage and cars and all bills ect, but there wouldn't be much left over and certainly not to pay childcare. Thanks x

I would say to watch this space, the government is making announcements about training/retraining programmes for people like yourself wanting to change direction.
I would ask the college about childcare costs etc and course fee help.
With one income it's possible you may qualify for some help with child-care costs through tax credits.
