Access to HE online?

My sd has asked me to look at some course providers for an online access course into nursing.

She's working full time at a SN school at present and doesn't want to go into a college: time/COVID etc

She's found courses on learndirect, Stonebridge or distance learning.com.

The reviews are all variable so I was hoping to hear from people who've had experience

Thanks

I would suggest that she looks at either an OU Access course or Foundation course.
They really are the best provider of on-line courses imho.

They don't do the course she needs. Already checked.

OK
Avoid distance-learning.com
I know someone who had a really awful experience with this provider. They claim it's flexible but you can't progress onto unit 2 until you've finished and passed all of unit 1 which totally demoralised them.
Secondly before parting with any money your friend needs to make sure that she has all the GCSEs needed to meet the entry requirements. She would need to check with the course provider whether Core Science GCSE would be enough or whether you would need Double Science. They may also accept equivalents e.g. Applied Science BTEC etc
If she doesn't have the necessary GCSEs then a GCSE course may be needed before starting the access.

I have recently started with
www.distancelearningcentre.com, on the allied health professions. Can’t complain so far and went on many recommendations from an online group. I have studied with the OU previously and some accept their level one health sciences modules, however mine don’t and am having to do the access course. I don’t have a science GCSE and some of the universities I am looking at will accept this as I am doing sufficient credits in biology with the access course. It is worth checking with preferred universities on requirements, what they will accept or if equivalencies are accepted. Also check the credits on the access course as some specify a certain amount in biology, etc and make sure it’s accredited.

It’s worth noting some you have to self fund as there are only a few that offer the advanced learner loan when studying online.
