I know at uni DS1 has to take his watch off, not sure about school. I think the issue is the lack of clocks really. It's not fair on the invigilators to know what is/isn't a smart watch

Theovertoad · 19/10/2019 06:50

At dds school, smart watches cannot be brought into exams (treated like phones).
Normal watches have be taken off wrists and put on their desks to one side.

Dc has made decision to drop 4th A level. We’ve visited uni open days over the last few weeks so now have a clearer idea of potential courses and which A level to let go. Thank goodness! It’s been quite stressful for her i think.

Hoooo · 24/10/2019 18:51

Very quiet on here! :)
Assuming its half term for most?
Ds1 seems ok...he is still tired but enjoying his studies.
toad all sounds very positive.

raspberryrippleicecream · 24/10/2019 20:17

Half term here, for me too as I work in a school.

We had a meeting with DS2s form tutor before half term. All good except if anything he is getting too involved in extra-curricular, particularly when teachers are asking him to mentor or help. Anyway, she has his back and will help him get a balance and say no. Subject teacher meetings is next month.

School took the whole of Y12 to a careers and uni fair last week and he came back with a pile of prospectuses.

Anyone else having a level exams this week? Dd is struggling, usual mad rush to revise night before and mucking around the whole half term- anyone else’s kids like this? It makes me so mad that my dd doesn’t get the whole slow and steady revision is better than night before revision with 4 hours sleep.

We just had an argument and I got the usual argument it’s the past now I can’t rewind the half term !! I always say past makes the present . It’s a vicious circle our arguments . Need a good one liner to come back to when dd says it’s the past now when she mucks up an exam due to last minute revision.

Ds1 did assessments a month ago and will have some again in december.

They may even be monthly cant remember!

Parents evening on 19th.

Just checking in to say hi everyone - two weeks of half term just coming to a finish and DD has not done any work at all. She has done no reading, no extra stuff, no note sorting. She has 6 (!) essays to do this weekend. She has, however, spent a lot of time resting and lolling about, and watching crap movies (which I did join in with). I suppose there is some merit to that Grin.

Dd back at school this week, same here nothing done over half term, we went away for 2 weeks.
First lot of assessments were done pre holiday and all looking ok. She has taken on so much school volunteering and has the lead in the school musical so not worried about her having done no school work.
DS loving Uni and has settled really well. So all good here Smile

Theovertoad · 01/11/2019 18:13

Dd had some assessments before half term . Not too much homework I don’t think. She’s done a bit of reading but not much tbh

Hoooo · 07/11/2019 06:21

Ds is having assessments again this week and again w/c 16th dec...

Arewedone · 07/11/2019 08:05

Igcse certs arrived today ! Seems so long ago now.

Hoooo · 07/11/2019 08:15

Ds won't get his til december...

myrtleWilson · 07/11/2019 08:22

Re homework/assessments - DD only really started getting significant weighty pieces just before half term (she did three essays over half term) grades/feedback on them has been positive so that's pleased her. The school planner does say that the intensity builds up from now onwards - eek! But she's enjoying it all and loving politics a great deal so that's a forerunner for university considerations but doing apprenticeship at law firm still in the mix...

Hoooo · 07/11/2019 08:23

Ds enjoying politics too :)

DoubleDupe · 07/11/2019 08:49

Got the results back on Alis testing grade targets. One dc has AAA and the other has AAB, dc not pleased about the B - but it's not a limit!
DCs finding sixth form tricky - they want to work during 'frees' but they are struggling to stay clear if distractions and are coming home to work (without permission) as are many other students...the Year 13s are allowed, so no one notices. Workload is heavy, one of them is really feeling this, think it will take sometime for them to adjust.
