Oh no. You do have a lot on your plate NoHaudin Flowers

Hardwickwhite · 23/09/2019 17:35

Oh my Nohaudin what a lot to have on your plate. Best wishes.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 23/09/2019 19:24

Thanks for the good wishes.

ShanghaiDiva · 24/09/2019 08:00

@NoHaudinMaWheest - hope you have a positive visit with your dd on Wednesday and that your ds's funding issue is sorted quickly.
Dropped Ds at the airport today with 40 kilos of 'essentials'.
Will miss him, but we are going on holiday on Friday to Bangkok and then on to Bhutan so have something else to focus on and after the first couple of weeks away, the time seems to whizz by and he will be back with Xmas pudding and cake!

UrsulaPandress · 24/09/2019 08:03

Does he enjoy life in England? It must seem dull and grey compared with the prospect of Bangkok and Bhutan.

ShanghaiDiva · 24/09/2019 08:20

He would hate Bhutan - falls into the category of one of Mum's weird holidays to places with dubious infrastructure and poor quality wifi!
He does like the UK although not keen on the wet and windy weather. He is also very fond of UK supermarkets and complains about the lack of choice and slightly dubious hygiene practices here in China.

Bronzegate · 26/09/2019 08:54

Having been there for three days, DS has got himself a part-time job working at an events venue. It sounds interesting, and might be an opportunity to meet people.

HesMyLobster · 26/09/2019 23:57

Thinking of you @NoHaudinMaWheest, hope you're finding time to look after yourself a bit too.

@ShanghaiDiva have a wonderful trip Envyvery definitely envy!

We've been out for a "last supper" tonight with grandparents etc. DD is finally going back for good tomorrow after a couple of months to-ing and fro-ing.
She doesn't plan to come back again until mid December, she's got a very full on timetable this term. I've told her tonight I can't promise not to visit! Even if just for the odd afternoon.

marmiteloversunite · 27/09/2019 06:58

DD 1 is very happy back at uni. She had thrown herself back into helping freshers with the music society and is auditioning today for choirs. She has also taught her first singing lesson to a child which should bring in some pennies. She is back for 24 hrs this weekend because we are scattering my dad's ashes on Sunday morning.

Miss her but love that she is so busy and happy.

raspberryrippleicecream · 28/09/2019 20:13

Thinking of you NoHaudin

Dd's first week of lectures has gone well I think. DS2 has gone up to stay with her tonight - he is going to her uni city every Saturday for some particular training and this weekend has an extra course tomorrow. DD is handily situated a short bus ride away (and it runs doorstep to doorstep). The city is an hour and half train ride from us, so its very handy!

HesMyLobster · 28/09/2019 22:07

That is handy @raspberryrippleicecream , nice for them to have some time together too.
When dd2 went to stay with her sister last term I was full of warnings about leading her astray and not taking her to any parties but I needn't have worried - they just went to museums and played crazy golf! Grin

Knotaknitter · 29/09/2019 13:37

NoHaudin I hope that things are better for you today, you have so much on your plate at the moment.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 29/09/2019 15:30

Thanks to those who have asked how things are.
I went up to see dd this week. She seems a bit better now that she is getting into lectures and enjoying them. She is still having difficulties though which I think are at least partly tiredness related as them seem to get worse at the end of the week.

We now have a confirmed offer on Mum's flat with a completion date at the end of October. I finished clearing apart from a few bits which my brother will do tomorrow. It was a wrench to leave as it makes things seem more final. It also means I will no longer have a base in Dd's university city.

Ds' s university have now agreed to his repeating the year in the way his department advised. We still don't know about funding and lectures start tomorrow. He is going to go but the uncertainty means he has a less than ideal start which was part of the problem previously.

Good to hear of others enjoying their second year.

Bronzegate · 29/09/2019 18:10

marmite
I successfully auditioned for the chapel choir at university and had the most amazing time singing with them. I'm still in touch with those friends now.

marmiteloversunite · 30/09/2019 09:04

Music is a great way to make friends at uni. DD is happy to be throwing herself back into it all. Makes it easier to pay the three months rent due tomorrow!

Hardwickwhite · 30/09/2019 14:46

Nohaudin when I had to do the same for my mum’s place, I took home some of her things and kept them visible in our house. It really helps. Most of it is now safely put away, but I still have a couple of favourite vases out.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 30/09/2019 18:40

Thanks we have actually got some of her furniture here now so very visible.
I also have her wedding pearls but I can't bear to wear them although they are lovely.

Sunndowne · 30/09/2019 21:25

Awww nohaudin life is really asking a lot of you right now. I hope your DC do well this year.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/10/2019 09:18

That is so much for one time NoHaudin :(

We take dd back this weekend. Packing has commenced.

UrsulaPandress · 01/10/2019 16:09

Hope your DD is improving NoHaudin.

DD's housemate seems to be getting worse so DD is going to try and suggest the University MH team. She had counselling last year which seemed to help.

DD has finally heard from the job she was offered. Has an induction day on 1 November. On the make up counter. Couldn't be better for her. It's her birthday on Thursday so we are going over to take her out to lunch and taking the requested chocolate cake.

Foster dog is no longer a foster dog......

Sunndowne · 01/10/2019 19:36

Haha. Is he adopted or gone home because he is too naughty?

Sunndowne · 01/10/2019 19:36

No packing here and we're going on Saturday!!!

UrsulaPandress · 01/10/2019 23:04

Adopted I’m afraid. I didn’t have the heart to move him on.

I look on him as penance for the almost 12 wonderful years I had with BastardSpaniel.

Knotaknitter · 01/10/2019 23:14

Good job Ursula. Just because he's not a very spanielly spaniel doesn't mean that he's not a Good Boy. They are all different, just like our DCs.

Nettleskeins · 02/10/2019 14:25

Ddpg has been a complete pest this afternoon. He threw up his breakfast and then spent the rest of the day trying to wheedle more food out of me trying to steal my popcorn, my toast, my cup of coffee, my curried haddock I did give him something in the end at 10 and three new squeaky toys at 12, but this was not enough to satisfy him. He is now fast asleep next to me, and I daren;t move for fear he will start racing around biting things again.

Ursula I think you need another dog to bring the new one out of his shell. Maybe the dogs in the previous adoptive home were too much at the same time as a new owner, but once he is attached to you, perhaps he would like another dog around. My sister;s dog hated my dog to start with, very jealous snarling at him on walks to go away, but now they get on very well, it is touching to see them on walks together chatting a bit, but mostly doing their own thing in their own sweet way. She is about 10, a lab cross and a rescue and strangely less clingy with my pestdog around..
