I'd recommend Lenovo but an 11 inch screen is not appropriate for study.

Look at something like this instead, which has a better processor and is far more sturdy and appropriate for home study (but still light enough to carry if needed).

Our boys age 12 and 16 both have Dell 15 inch laptops from the Dell outlet that were around £300 each. DS1 started with a cheaper one, but it didn’t have the storage needed for GCSE

15 inch is quite big so heavy. 13 inch is fine but with sufficient memory. My DDs both have Mac books (air and pro) post university for work. Obviously they are very expensive but they are light, transportable and have huge capacity. Look for memory capacity and light weight.

I brought DD a Mac book Air for her A level studies and its been amazing ...she now types notes in class etc - totally agree with bubbles about being very light and easy to carry around. It's expensive but she has hypermobility so I was keen to get something light and something that she would be keen to use for a few years.
